Real Exmoor Studio opens
Connecting on Instagram solely because they were both artists living and working on Exmoor, Anne Mortimer and Hannah Norman have just two years later become very close friends-friends who have championed each other to just simply continue to put their heart and soul into their art.

When one of the old boat houses became available at Porlock weir, Anne and Hannah knew it would make the perfect studio. Their dream came true on 1 September when they opened Real Exmoor Studio . It is a place where they can share a passion for art selling originals , limited editions and stationery of their work . Anne and Hannah came to choose the name of Real Exmoor because they both work as realist artists and their hopes for their Studio to be a place to give space for the local nature in the perfect setting.

Anne has been illustrating for over 40 years as part of the team of stationary designers at Otter House Ltd. She has worked with the RSPB, National Trust, Wedgwood, M&S to name a few. Anne also worked for Harper Collins in New York and for Disney books on 17 childrens books. Her originals have been exhibited in Bonhams, The society of illustrators in New York and Mall galleries. She has been given full membership to the Royal Miniature
Society and The Society of Botanical artists. Her training in Natural history illustration is where her heart firmly lies.
Hannah has been producing her pencil Pet Portrait commissions for ten years but only found her love for oil based coloured pencil throughout lockdown where she had time to perfect her skills. Now producing portraits of Exmoor wildlife such as Stags, Exmoor Ponies or the Seal that pops up in the Porlock Bay, she just wants to continue producing photo-realist work to capture the stunning local wildlife. alongside working on her pet commissions.
Hannah and Anne will hold workshops at the studio in the future and hope that it will evolve throughout the year, establishing itself as a place to return to for visitors to Exmoor and for those living here .
